Ubwoko Bio is building Rwanda's first private bio-fertilizer manufacturer — bringing a proven formulation to the country that needs it most.
of chemical fertilizer nitrogen never reaches the crop — lost to leaching and volatilization before the plant sees it.
Our bio-organic fertilizer locks nutrients into a high-carbon carrier — so more reaches the crop, every season. Less waste. Better yields. Soil that improves over time rather than degrades.
This is not a marginal improvement. For a farmer spending $50 on inputs and losing $25–35 to leaching, a 15–20% reduction in losses is the difference between a viable season and a failing one.
Documented over chemical fertilizer in peer-reviewed independent trials. Farmers pay a premium because the ROI is provable.
Chemical fertilizer degrades soil. Our product compounds it — the land gets more productive the longer you use it.
The formulation behind Ubwoko Bio has been manufactured and sold commercially for over 15 years. This is not a pilot — it's a proven product entering a new market.
We are not starting from scratch. We are bringing a proven formulation and 15 years of manufacturing know-how into an uncontested Rwandan market.
Our product is not a generic compost. It's a carbon-enriched organic mineral fertilizer — NPK and micronutrients dosed into a high-carbon organic carrier for slow, controlled release.
Every blend is formulated using the HIPN approach — Holistic Integrated Plant Nutrition — treating soil and plant as one system. Each SKU is matched to Rwanda's specific soil zones: highland, valley, and eastern.
Ubwoko Bio was built on a conviction shared between two people who knew each other long before they became business partners.
Aqil and Jaco didn't meet in a boardroom — they built a friendship first. Over years of conversations about agriculture, Africa, and what it would take to genuinely fix food security on this continent, one idea kept coming back: the fertilizer problem is solvable, and nobody is solving it in Rwanda.
Jaco had spent 15 years building one of Africa's most respected bio-organic fertilizer operations. Aqil had spent his career structuring deals and building businesses across the continent. When Rwanda kept appearing in the data — no private bio-organic producer, a government actively redirecting subsidy spend toward organic inputs, fewer than 10% of farmers using correct inputs — the decision became obvious.
Ubwoko Bio is not a pivot or a side project. It's what happens when the right two people decide it's time to stop talking about a problem and go build the solution.
Jaco leads one of Africa's largest bio-organic fertilizer manufacturing operations — a business he has built and scaled for over 15 years. He is the architect of the carbon-matrix formulation at the heart of Ubwoko Bio's product: NPK and micronutrients dosed into a high-carbon organic carrier for slow, controlled release. This is not off-the-shelf technology. It is proprietary IP, refined through years of soil trials across multiple crops and climates.
In Rwanda, Jaco leads product development, plant commissioning, quality control, and the soil-zone specific blend trials that give Ubwoko Bio its scientific edge. He is, in the truest sense, the reason the product works.
Aqil is a commercial operator with a track record of structuring and scaling businesses across the African continent. His role at Ubwoko Bio is to make sure a world-class product reaches the market — and that investors, government stakeholders, and distribution partners are aligned to make that happen efficiently.
He leads capital raising, investor governance, offtake negotiation, and the on-the-ground relationships in Rwanda that will determine how quickly Ubwoko Bio moves from first batch to market leader. His belief in this business is personal — he has seen what poor soil inputs do to farming communities, and he is not interested in halfway solutions.
No private bio-organic fertilizer producer exists in Rwanda today. We enter an uncontested market — with a clear path to East Africa.
From market entry at 5,000–10,000 t/yr up to Rwanda's full addressable demand of ~78,500 t/yr. No private bio-organic competitor exists in Rwanda today. Government is an anchor buyer from Day 1.
Africa specialty fertilizer TAM. EAC tariff-free access gives Rwanda-manufactured product immediate reach into Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and DRC — a 300M+ consumer market without trade barriers.
We are raising our foundational capital to move from proven formulation to first Rwandan production batch. If you're an investor, development finance institution, government partner, or agro-dealer — we'd love to talk.
